Bring out your bed tray table

Convenience is key to a less stress-filled life. Useful things that do double and triple duty are just what we need. Sometimes we already have things in our home that can do just that. May we present to you: the bed tray table!

Every house has at least one, and it is usually reserved for times when someone is ill and needs to stay in bed. There are so many more uses you can put the bed tray table to!

Think about it. It’s meant to fit over your lap. Whether you are lying down or sitting makes no difference, so why not use your bed tray table when you are sitting on your couch, chair, or recliner? You could eat a meal or a snack on it, but that’s just the beginning. You could watch TV and have a very useful surface to write letters and cards, do your bills, do your nails, have a handy surface for mending, embroidery, needlepoint, beading, or other crafting. Anything you can put your hand to that fits on your lap space can be brought closer to eye level and rest on a flatter surface than the tops of your thighs.

Rest your computer keyboard on it. If you need to work researching or copying with bigger books, such as the yellow pages, cookbooks, or Bibles, place them there. You’ll find less strain on your eyes, neck, and legs. Take it into the kitchen, especially on busy cooking days. Set it on the table or counter and you’ve made double space! Cool plates of cookies and cakes on it. Put your cookbook on it to keep the pages safe from splatters.

Necessity is the mother of invention! Keep your handy friend out where you can see it and you’ll come up with lots more ideas to make your life easier.
